Packing Tips

Use the appropriately sized boxes.

Never use newspaper to wrap your posessions. Due to the open grain construction of newspaper, the inks used in the printing process are not dried. The ink will rub off and stain anything wrapped in it. Always use clean, white paper for packing.

Protecting Wool

Moth, Scourge of the sweater drawer. Moth larvae spend more than half their life cycle consuming wool and specialty fibres like cashmere. Their cocoons are hard to spot because they incroprate your sweaters fibres into their construction. Perspiration salts and food stains attract moths.

The surest way to protect knits is to dry-clean each garment before storing.

The same goes for wool carpets. Carpets destined for storage should be cleaned and wrapped by professionals.

Simplify Your Move

1.  Give yourself time to organize your move.

2. Try to spread out the work.  Pack a few boxes every day a month before moving.

3.  Confirm movers.  If using professional movers try not to move on their very busy days, near the beginning or end of each month.

4.  Have a garage sale or donate unneeded items.

5.  Discard all flammables, such as paint and gasoline, at the appropriate recycling facilities.

PLEASE DO NOT STORE FOOD!

The following food items should NEVER be stored in a locker.
